It’s that time of year when we have a bit more of a spring in our step, the mornings are lighter much earlier and that welcome sunshine starts showing up bits of our homes that really need a spruce up! Yes, I’ve started the spring clean session like a maniac and it seems to be never-ending. Those shelves that were cluttered have been cleared, ‘stuff’ accumulated by the children over the winter have been sorted and hoovering all those nooks and crannies has been accomplished. I’ve even dusted all those out of reach places which no-one will ever see. Let’s just say, for my next trip to Villiers Road, I’m going to need a heavy goods vehicle.

Now I don’t mind cleaning, in fact I find it quite therapeutic. Once it’s done I have this huge sense of achievement which is almost indescribable and you know what they say – no-one will ever clean your house as well as you. Obviously, I don’t have as much time as I used to, so I try and do it a little at a time or on the weekend with my kids running around me asking a hundred and one questions. So Saturday just gone, we made it a fun family cleaning experience. This is the only way I can get Michael involved without him moaning like a sulky teenager when I ask him to pick up his socks or fold the clothes that have been dried. Luckily my little ones are still at an age where they want to get involved and they are great little helpers. So with the help of Michael Jackson and Prince blaring out (may they RIP), we got lots done whilst at the same time dancing around like fools. Anyone watching us would have thought we were mad, but we had so much fun and downstairs was almost spotless!

Don’t get me wrong, there’s still a lot more to do but it’s a start and I’ll be on a mission upstairs soon. In the meantime I may bump into you at the recycling centre.
