Ten people have been arrested after several thousands of pounds worth of cash and class A drugs were seized in drug raids in Walton and Esher.

More than 100 police officers banded together to execute seven early morning warrants yesterday under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Anti-social behaviour case builders also attended the arrests to gather evidence to potentially close down premises.

Surrey Police officers are also working with community housing group Paragon and Elmbridge Council to gather evidence about the activity.

Inspector Greg Turner, from Elmbridge’s safer neighbourhood team, said: "Drug use and the supply of drugs has a direct impact on our communities and is something we take extremely seriously.

"Offences of this nature and the associated criminality which drug dealing brings to an area will not be tolerated in Surrey and we will continue to take robust action to tackle drugs misuse in our communities.

He added he hoped the raids reassured residents and said officers would continue to act on information passed on by the public.
