After a hard day at work, what better than to slink home to your Conran-designed pad and enjoy a relaxing massage while the maid gets on with your laundry?

The latest in luxury living has finally made it to Surbiton thanks to Bewley Homes which has built 48 units of two-bedroom flats, live/work units and penthouse apartments on the site of the Surbiton Post Office.

In one of Surbiton's most desirable sites in Victoria Road, the Surbiton Plaza development will be shown to the general public on Saturday. There are still some left after a private preview last weekend, when sales peaked at a rate of £1million an hour.

Designed by Sir Terence Conran and partners, the two-bedroom flats are going for between £360,000 and £420,000 and have access to a concierge, laundry service and use of a large space downstairs for business meetings or entertaining.

Wahid Samady, managing director CNM Estates, said: "I have thrown in a tablet computer for each apartment so you can access everything online. If you have had a hard day at work you can go online and order a massage and it will be downstairs when you get home."

Another key feature is the live-work units, which offer a lobby, with a 100sq ft work space on the left and home in front, meaning the two are kept entirely separate.

But the real luxury apartments are in the penthouse, which are expected to fetch over £500,000 and offer excellent views of Surbiton.

Mr Samady said the development appealed to savvy buyers because it offered something different, tailored to the needs of modern life. He said he wanted to provide a McCarthy and Stone style of living to today's young professionals.

"It was a tremendous launch, we were absolutely overwhelmed," he said. "In some cases the properties were sold for over the asking price and at one point sales were over £1million an hour. We had over 200 appointments to view and when we launch to the public on Saturday there are 1,000 people registered."
