Premier League footballer Steven Caulker has been handed a £1,000 fine after verbally abusing a doorman at a bar in Esher.
The 23-year-old Queens Park Rangers defender was at Rocksalt bar in Church Street in the early hours of March 15 when he was asked to leave following aggressive behaviour in relation to a dispute over a bill.
He had left the bar but became aggressive to doorman Carl Evans, in a rant that was said to last for up to seven minutes, during which he gestured aggressively and used abusive language.
Caulker pleaded not guilty to two counts of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress.
He was fined £1,000 and told to pay prosecution costs of £750 and a £100 victim surcharge for his behaviour at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, October 12.
Caulker, who is currently on loan to Southampton, and previously played for Tottenham and Cardiff, has a previous caution for causing a similar public offence.
