The death of a man whose body was found in the Thames near Walton bridge is not being treated as suspicious according to Surrey Police.

A member of the public discovered the body at about 11am on Saturday, in the Thames between Weybridge and Walton behind Thames Street.

Two ambulance crews were sent to the riverside but he was already dead.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said the death is still unexplained, but was not being treated as suspicious and no one else was believed to be involved.

A spokesman for Woking Coroner's Court said that the body had been identified and his family had been told about his death, but could not release any further information yet.

An inquest into the man's death will be held but no date has currently been set.
