A man is in hospital after a serious crash closed the Ewell Road in Tolworth.

Surrey Comet:

Ambulance crews were called to the crash between a motorcyclist and a car just after midday.

Nav Patel, who works at the Sainsbury's at the junction of Ewell Road and Red Lion Road, said the whole road was cordoned off.

He said he could see police and an ambulance, but could not see the injured person as they were enclosed in a tent.

Paramedics treated the motorcyclist at the scene and a police spokesman said the male rider had since been taken to hospital.

He said there were no indications as to how serious the injuries were.

Surrey Comet:

The road is now open and delays are clear.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 12.14pm. We have got an ambulance crew there.

"[We are] treating someone for leg injuries, they are conscious and breathing."

Transport for London said the 281, 406 and K1 bus routes were being diverted or stopping short of their usual destination due to the road closure.
