A former stray dog from New Malden will get her first taste of fame today as the star of an advert screened during the X Factor ad breaks.

Honey the Staffordshire bull-terrier and her owner Helen Bannan won a competition to star in an advert for the Blue Cross animal charity back in March.

The nationwide search for a pet began last year with a series of tough “pawditions”, where Honey was chosen to be a finalist.

She will now take centre stage during the breaks of the hit ITV show.

Ms Bannan said: “Honey has had a great time being part of the Blue Cross journey, from the pawditions to being on set at the filming of the ad.”

The talented pooch will also be starring in her own webisode with X Factor runner-up Stacey Solomon.
