A Libyan teenager accused of stabbing a friend’s dad after an argument in New Malden McDonald’s will face a retrial after a jury could not come to a verdict.
Basel Elmaarfi, 19, was accused of grievous bodily harm after 40-year-old Alexander Danabalan was found with stab wounds to his back and leg in Sussex Road on the evening of March 30 this year.
He had told Kingston Crown Court the victim’s son phoned him on the morning before the attack and threatened his sister and mother over drug dealing turf.
Mr Elmaarfi, of Ullswater Crescent, Kingston Vale, will be remanded in custody until January 18, 2016 when he will face a retrial.
