Short comedy film Homer: The Movie provides an exclusive opportunity for students to gain work experience in film production, writes Albertine Brandon.

The film, which has already reached 57 per cent of its funding target, will be produced by Verity Wislocki.

During her 15-year career in the film industry Mrs Wislocki, of Elm Tree Avenue, Esher, has offered work experience to students, including those from Tiffin Girls’ School.

She said: "I’m quite heavily involved in getting young people to work in film so when we’re shooting I will offer work experience to interested students."

Homer: The Movie is based on a true story and tells the tale of rivalry between obsessive cleaner Aaron and Homer, a pigeon who ruins his tidy home and steals the affections of his girlfriend Lexi.

A crowdfunding page was launched last week for the film, and in the past week £5,683 has been raised.

Filming will begin in September with a hope to put on screenings at LOCO London Comedy Festival next year.
