Life-savers: Who knows when these skills could come in handy?

The Junior Citizen scheme ran from Monday, June 1, to Wednesday, June 17, at Walton fire station.

Workshops ran on how to make 999 calls, fire safety, first aid, stranger danger, internet safety, antisocial behaviour, road safety and water safety.

They were run by Surrey Police and supported by Elmbridge Council, Surrey Fire and Rescue, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Paragon Community Housing Group and St John Ambulance.

Councillor Christine Cross, portfolio holder for community development, said: "Junior Citizen is a great way for children to received information on such important topics, and I hope the children have come away with invaluable skills to help in their progression into secondary school.

"I am confident these skills will stay with them in the future years when dealing with any safety issues."
