Earlier this year, the Surrey Comet interviewed ex-Hawker employee Jeffrey Tipper, who helped build Hurricane fighters during World War II.
Mr Tipper, 98, of Surbiton, rose from apprentice to manager over a career spanning nearly half a century.
After that story was read by his former colleagues - who did not even know he still lived in the area - they arranged a reunion at Brooklands Museum, where a decommissioned Harrier jump jet is kept on display.
Andy Green, building and services manager at Brooklands Museum, worked in aerospace for 23 years, including with Mr Tipper.
He said: "There were quite a few of his old colleagues that hadn't seen him since the factory closed in 1992. We had a nice little chat, a nice little get-together.
"He was a really nice boss. He's a brilliant guy, a gentleman - never raised his voice."
