A new video showing the impact of a proposed high-storey tower block in Kingston town centre has been released by opponents of the scheme.
Kingston Residents’ Alliance have uploaded a video on to YouTube titled Save Our Town, which shows views of Kingston before and after the planned old Post office site development in Ashdown Road.
The video uses the song Our Town by Iris Dement with lyrics that say “Go on now, say goodbye to our town”.
Still photographs show the views from Wheatfield Way, Orchard Road and the Ancient Market Place as they are today, before drawings showing the proposed multi-storey block are superimposed over the skyline.
Developer St George has already reduced the height of the proposed building from 21 storeys to 19 but residents still feel this is not enough.
The planning application will be discussed at the development control committee tomorrow on Tuesday, June 2.
