A collapsed sewer in New Malden will be causing traffic delays for a week.
Thames Water is repairing the sewer outside the Baptist Church in Kingston Road that collapsed yesterday lunchtime.
Temporary traffic lights have been put up while repairs are taking place.
A spokesman for Thames Water said: "We're carrying out emergency work in Kingston Road to repair a collapsed sewer.
“We're sorry for any inconvenience, but this is a must-do job to prevent customers suffering the misery of sewer flooding."
