A New Malden teenager is believed to be one of the people trapped on Mount Everest after an earthquake triggered a series of huge avalanches on Saturday.
Former Richmond College pupil Anna Buchanan, 18, was reportedly in touch with her mother Pauline Buchanan yesterday lunchtime after being missing for 24 hours.
Miss Buchanan was said to be travelling in Nepal during her gap year.
So far at least 17 climbers have been killed on Everest with at least another 60 reported injured.
The earthquake is said to have killed more than 3,000 people in Nepal and left thousands more injured and homeless.
The video below shows the huge volumes of snow which hit the base camps causing the devastation on the mountain.
More to follow.
