MORTON keeper Kevin Cuthbert has warned his team-mates they must start producing the goods.

The Greenock men are probably the Irn-Bru First Division's greatest under-achievers but, after going through the first quarter of the campaign without a win, Davie Irons' side had appeared to rally and looked set to push on for a top-half finish.

But, having triumphed just once in their last seven outings, in which a damaging four-in-a-row drawn sequence cost them dear, the Ton are now just two points off the rele-gation play-off place.

Cuthbert admitted: "For a side that has so much experience and quality, we haven't delivered what we are capable of and that is worrying.

"We have a lot of guys like James Grady, Ryan McGuffie, Erik Paartalu and Allan Jenkins, who have all played at the highest level and we haven't capitalised on that. But we can't afford to keep saying it's time we delivered - that needs to happen now."

That first chance at redemption comes with tomorrow's visit of a Dunfermline side who are under increasing pressure to start posting three-point returns after falling eight points behind leaders St Johnstone.

And Cuthbert, who was in superb form in the 1-0 loss at Firhill last time out, said: "We had a bad game at Partick and we can't have any complaints about the fact we took nothing from it. From that point of view, it is great to come back with a home game against Dunfermline.

"They have a great record away from East End Park and I think they have only lost twice, so it is going to be tough. First and foremost, we need to keep a clean sheet and, if we can do that, it will give us a platform, but I think it will be a tight match.

"There are so many teams that have had the phrase too good to go down used to describe them, but right now we need to prove that point."
