Homes in Weybridge shook in the early hours of this morning after two gas cylinders exploded.

Two large cylinders, including a 25kg propane drum, ruptured on the railway line at Oatlands Avenue and caused debris to be thrown 100m to near flats in Brockley Combe.

Firefighters from Sunbury and Staines were called just before 5.55am to help make the scene safe.

An investigation is being carried out by British Transport Police.

South West Trains services were disrupted while police and firefighters attended, with trains unable to call at Walton, Hersham and Esher.

A normal service resumed shortly after 8.30am.
