The Metropolitan Police said one man, stabbed in Tolworth Broadway last night, was still critical in an update this morning.

The 23-year-old is believed to have been stabbed multiple times, and wounded in the side, during a fight which took place outside Lebanese cafe Rose Kitchen shortly before 6pm.

A witness said: "He was clutching his stomach area, you could see he had been stabbed through his jumper. He left drops of blood on the floor, no real heavy external bleeding.

"First on scene were the police, then a paramedic car, about five minutes later the ambulance arrived."

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack.

UPDATE: Police have said this evening, March 11, that the stab victim is now in a stable condition. Larry Kukoyi, 21, of Millais Way, Epsom, has been charged with attempted murder.

Another man, aged in his 40s, was rushed to St George’s Hospital in Tooting after being hit by a car.

The man, who was struck in Kingston Road, New Malden, at about 7am yesterday, remains in critical condition, police said.

Yesterday also saw two deaths.

Colin Edwards, 51, died at Broomsfield Hospital in Cheltenham, where he was transferred after suffering burns in a fire outside Clear House, New Malden, on Friday.

A person close to the family said: "Everyone is supportive. He was very well known in the community. He is always out and about."

Tributes to Mr Edwards including flowers, photographs and Chelsea FC memorabilia, were left at Clear House, New Malden.

One read: "I will love and miss you forever."

Another man died after falling from Tolworth roundabout onto the A3 at about 10.15am.

Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.

Kingston police borough commander Glenn Tunstall said: "First of all the thoughts of myself and all my officers and staff are with the families of those involved in these tragic incidents.

"This has been an incredibly difficult day for all concerned on the borough.

"I would particularly like to praise the emergency services who have had to attend these incidents and have responded, as always, with complete professionalism."

Kingston Council leader Kevin Davis said: "This has been one of those dark days when bad news appears not to stop coming.

"Our thoughts and prayers are inevitably with all those caught up in these events, but we must ourselves take comfort from the fact that these events are unconnected but also rare in our borough."
