Richmond, Elmbridge and Epsom and Ewell have the best quality of life in the UK.

The Halifax Quality of Life survey found Elmbridge, which is home to the gated St George's Hill and Burwood Park areas, was the second top place to live in the UK, losing out only to Hart in Hampshire.

Elmbridge took the top spot in 2011 but dropped to sixth place last year.

Richmond, home Hampton Court Palace and two royal parks, was one of only three London boroughs to make it into the top 50 places to live, coming in at number 15 just behind Sevenoaks and South Cambridgeshire.

The borough came ahead of Kensington and Chelsea (34th place) and Bromley (37th place) Last year, Richmond failed to make the top 50, with the City of London the only London borough featuring in the list.

Nearby boroughs also in the top 50 include Epsom and Ewell in 48th place, Mole Valley in 19th place and Woking in 36th place.
