Underprivileged children around the world will receive gifts this Christmas thanks to pupils at St George's Junior School.

Each year, children at the Weybridge school take part in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal, during which, children and their parents pack shoeboxes with a range of gifts.

After wrapping the box and labelling whether it is for a boy or girl, they are taken to a drop off point to be shipped overseas.

In the past few weeks, children have donated 307 boxes - following one of school founder Constant van Crombrugghe’s key mottos.

Marta Rolon, school chaplain, said: “Hospitality was one of Constant van Crombrugghe’s values and through this act of sharing, each child will be ‘like the sun that fills the sky with light each morning’.”
