A man from Cobham charged with murdering two women in Hong Kong has been ruled fit to stand trial.

Rurik Jutting, 29, is accused of killing Sumarti Ningsih and Seneng Mujiasih in late October, after their bodies were found in his flat on November 1.

Mr Jutting called police to his home in the Wan Chai area and Ms Mujiasih’s body was found with knife wounds to her neck at buttock and Ms Ningsih’s with neck injuries.

Both bodies were found in Mr Jutting’s apartment – one in the living room and one in a suitcase on the balcony.

The two Indonesian women were believed to be working as prostitutes.

Mr Jutting, originally of Redhill Road, Cobham, was remanded in custody earlier this month and referred for psychiatric testing after being charged with the murders.

At a hearing, Judge Bina Chainrai ruled Mr Jutting was mentally fit to stand trial after spending two weeks at a secure psychiatric centre having tests.

The case has now been adjourned until July 6, 2015, after the prosecution argued a number of months were needed to examine the evidence in detail.

The BBC reported Mr Jutting wore the same clothes to court as in his previous appearances.

During the hearing, Mr Jutting, who is yet to enter a plea, reportedly said he understood he would be held in custody until next year. If found guilty, he could be jailed for life.

Mr Jutting, a pupil of the now closed Wallop Preparatory School, Weybridge, moved to Hong Kong to work for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in July last year.

He quit his job last month, leaving an out of office email reply saying: “Please contact someone who is not an insane psychopath.”
