An unknown woman has walked into three Kingston nurseries in the last two months and asked to see children staff did not know, according to reports.

Kingston police are investigating the incidents, which are said to have taken place between October and this month.

A spokesman said: "On all three occasions she has asked for a child by name, who the nursery staff did not know.

"At no point did she gain entry to nursery premises. She left after being told the child was not there.

"As is procedure in such cases, local officers were made aware and are liaising with partner agencies at this time.

"Should any criminal allegations come to light they will be fully investigated."

Police investigated a spate of alleged abduction attempts at schools in Knollmead Primary School, Tolworth, Grand Avenue Primary School, Surbiton, and Green Lane Primary School, Worcester Park in May 2012.

The allegations caused great concern among parents.

But no arrests were ever made after the police later decided there had not been any abduction attempts after all.
