The smell of gas has led to temporary traffic lights set up to regulate traffic.

The odour was reported in Ember Lane, East Molesey, at 6.41pm on Thursday, October 30.

Claire Buchanan, spokesman for gas distribution network SGN, said: "We were called out to a report of a smell of gas yesterday evening via a call to the national gas emergency number 0800 111999.

"We arrived quickly and made safe. We will be continuing to work in one lane of Ember Lane to complete our repairs as quickly as possible. Three way lights are in the junction of Ember Lane with Chestnut Avenue, East Molesey.

Currently, the workers are excavating in order to make repairs, having worked through the night last night. They will remain on the site until the repairs are complete.

The spokesman said: "We understand that roadworks can be frustrating and would like to thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete our essential works."
