A man chose a St Albans farm as the setting for his original marriage proposal idea - with the words "will you marry me?" carved into pumpkins.

Ciaron Barratt from Watford, came up with the idea of proposing with pumpkins as he knew his girlfriend, Chynna-Jade Shaw, was going to take her son, Brodie, for their yearly pumpkin-picking ritual at the Willows Pumpkin Patch.

Ciaron, 22, said: "I wanted to propose in an original way, and realised the timing was perfect to do something at Willows. I know that Chynna loves coming here with Brodie for the Pumpkin Festival so I thought pumpkins would be a really unique way of asking her.

Chynna and Brodie made their way to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday afternoon, unaware that Ciaron had asked Willows to create some pumpkins carved with the words ‘Will You Marry Me?’.

Ms Shaw said yes to his proposal and the couple are now planning their wedding together.

Ciaron went on to say: "I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her - she’s a very special lady and a fantastic mother. Not to mention absolutely gorgeous."

Chynna said "I’m over the moon that Ciaron has asked me to marry him.

"It was such a surprise to see the carved pumpkins all set up especially for me."

Andrew, who lives at Willows with his wife Anna said: "When Ciaron approached us with the
idea we were more than happy to help him propose with our pumpkins.

"Anna and I have been married for twenty seven years and love nothing more than a happy ending.

"It’s an honour that Willows was chosen to host such a special milestone in their relationship."
