On October 16, 1994, Kingston's landscape was changed forever.

The power station's two chimneys were destroyed by controlled explosions, bringing the towers crashing to the ground, and with it, a piece of the town's history.

Architect Christian Kyriacou stood on the roof of High Ashton tower block in Kingston Hill that day, to capture this footage.

Today, the controversial Kingston Heights housing development stands on the site - although it was the first UK building project to encase an electrical substation in order for surrounding land to be developed.
