Summer events and activity days that attracted thousands of visitors have been given the thumbs up by parents and children.

The Shout! holiday activities responded to previous surveys in which parent and children said they wanted new workshops combining sports and arts.

Individual events such as play day, that attracted more than 3,000 people in August, and free play picnics added to the popularity of Shout!.

The staff who ran the events had 91 per cent of parents agreeing they were very good, and 86 per cent said that Shout! was good value for money.

Councillor Mary Sheldon, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: "The great feedback we received from parents and children is uplifting and the council remains as committed as ever to delivering a worthwhile and valued service for our residents and beyond."
