Kingston’s best pubs, bars and clubs are set to be pitted against one another and celebrated yet again.

The Best Bar None awards are back and town centre’s boozers will all be in the running for accolades such as best on the door and best staff member.

The awards are run by town centre managers Kingstonfirst and include two public vote categories – best behind the bar and best atmosphere.

Woody’s has managed to nab best behind the bar for two years running, and last year O’Neill’s won the best atmosphere prize.

Ros Morgan, chief executive at Kingstonfirst, said: “The Best Bar None awards recognise those who help to make Kingston a great place in which to socialise and relax. We have been delighted by the depth and quality of entries and the judges have some difficult choices to make.

“The pubs and clubs play a vital role both to the night time economy and vibrancy of Kingston, helping to make it the leading leisure destination in south-west London and we look forward to celebrating best practice in the industry.”

The Best Bar None awards aim to recognise positive contributions made by responsible licensees promoting sensible drinking.

Last year Clarence Street’s troubled venue Oceana was rebranded as Pryzm and entered into the awards – although it did not pick up any gongs.

This year Pryzm is due to host the awards ceremony on November 4.
