Council officers are investigating ways to revamp buckled and uneven paving in Kingston town centre.
The brick road surface in Wood Street, between John Lewis and the Bentall Centre, has been damaged over the years by bus traffic.
Buckled: the paving in Wood Street
Councillor David Cunningham, cabinet member for transport, said: "I think it's stood the test of time for 20 years, but it's looking a bit tired.
"I don't think there's anything stucturally wrong with the road, but it in need of some TLC."
A council spokesman said: "We are aware the paving is uneven due to heavy usage by buses.
"We are working with our contractor to find a robust solution that can withstand the high volume and weight this section of the road is subjected to."
