The Regent in Walton has been awarded summer pub of the season 2014 by Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) after nomination by local board members.

The pub was up against the Antelope in Surbiton for first place, clinching the victory due to the large range of ales, beers and ciders it has on offer.

Kingston and Leatherhead Camra's members vote each season after going to every pub within Surrey to sample the quality of the varying ales at each pub.

Matt Lettington, manager of the Regent, said: "We won the vote 13-2, a landslide. We were also voted in third place for Camra pub of the year 2014.

"In the trade it is considered quite a special award to be voted either pub of the year or the season."

About 1,300 pints of real ale are sold each week at the Regent, with two ales available from brewers within 25 miles.

Mr Lettingon said: "In my opinion the best beer I sell has to be Ranmore Ale by Surrey Hills."

In addition to this most recent award, due to high scores from the members, the Regent features in the Good Beer Guide, which includes only three Walton pubs.
