The public can see inside Raven's Ait this month thanks to a pop-up restaurant with a classic British theme.

Live music will lull diners enjoying either afternoon tea or a three-course meal on Sunday, August 17.

The lease to the iconic island was bought in September by Middle Eastern businessman Marshal Gasper from former Olympic sailing medallist Ossie Stewart, for a rumoured £1.9m.

Raven's Ait business manager Michelle Chilcott said: "We want the general public to come over to the island.

"We decided that a pop up restaurant would be a great way to find out what our local public like and what they would like to see on."

The island could get a permanent restaurant, she added, to attract corporate guests.

The new owners also recently installed sound bafflers in the windows, to prevent noise from escaping during weddings or functions and disturbing residents.

The management has also invested £48,000 in a new sound limiter system.

Ms Chilcott said: "It is just something we have done over the last six weeks after getting noise complaints from neighbours."

No complaints had been received since the measures were put into place, she added.

The pop up restaurant will open from 12.30-4pm. The bar will close at 6pm.
