A Worcester Park teenager is in with a chance of winning £1million after dreaming up a new flavour of crisp.

Imperial College student Jed Poole, 19, is one of six finalists in Walkers' Do Us A Flavour competition, a nationwide search for a new, tasty potato snack.

After receiving 1.2m suggestions from crisp fans across the UK, Walkers has now whitttled the competition down to the final half dozen - including Mr Poole's Sizzling Steak Fajita flavour.

The winner will not only see their creation hit the shleves as Walkers' latest brand, they will also walk away with a huge cash priize.

A public vote is currently open to decide the favourite.

Mr Poole, who is studying civil and environmental engineering, said: "Fajitas are my favourite dish and I always wondered what they would taste like in the form of a crisp.

"My mum cooks them whenever I return home during university holidays as they are always one of my first requests."

Other flavours in the mix include cheesy beans on toast, ranch racoon, chip shop chicken curry and pulled pork in a sticky barbeque sauce.

Mr Poole, who heard about the competition thanks to Gary Lineker during Match of the Day, added: "I tried to convince myself that I was perhaps being 'considered'.

"However, after further emails and calls I realised I was definitely in with a chance to win."

Judges include comedian David Walliams and chef Marco Pierre White.

Mr Poole, who has been living in Aldgate away from his parents’ home in Fullbrooks Avenue for university, said he would spend the winnings on paying for his education and travelling.

Although he opted for steak as his new recipe, his personal favourites are classics such as ready salted and salt and vinegar.
