An environmental activist and poet who styles himself Professor Kayoss is to stand trial after denying criminal damage to two fire doors by his home in Kingston.

Des Kay, 63, was the founder of Kingston environmental charity Save the World Club and is often seen riding a wacky, winged bicycle.

He is also a regular performer at the Glastonbury Festival where he started the Green Police, promoting festival etiquette including stopping the dropping of litter and urinating in hedgerows.

Mr Kay is accused of damaging the lock area of two fire doors at flats at 4-8 Crescent Road last December, costing owner One Housing Group £1,400.

He will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Monday, September 15, for a trial after denying the charge at a hearing on June 17.
