A driver was taken to hospital after his car hit a horse in Claygate.

Firefighters were called to Woodstock Lane South on Saturday, June 14 after the collision at about 12.30pm.

The driver, believed to be a man in his 30s, was treated for shock by paramedics and was taken to Kingston Hospital. It is not believed he sustained any major injuries.

The horse was killed.

A crew from Esher fire station were at the scene for about an hour and were called back later in the day to clear debris from the road.

There are often horses running loose around there. I've reported a horse running around on the (50 mph!) A3 approach road in the past. Where do they all come from, I wonder?
