Chicken restaurant Nando's set for New Malden?
For many, visiting is a matter of near-religious observance, but others decry their food as just posh chicken and chips.
Portuguese-style peri-peri purveyors Nando’s could be coming to New Malden if councillors wave through a planning application later this month.
It hopes to open the restaurant at 197-199 High Street, on the site of the old Dreams bed shop by the Fountain roundabout.
The restaurant would open from noon to 11pm, according to a noise survey submitted to Kingston Council on behalf of Nando’s.
Planners have submitted an application to change the building from a retail site to a restaurant.
The unit, on the corner of High Street and Kingston Road, overlooking the Fountain roundabout, was once a Dreams bed store
Another document, prepared by planning consultants FirstPlan, said: “Discussions with a well-established family orientated high street restaurant operator are well progressed, and, subject to the grant of planning permission, it is expected that this operator will seek to occupy the unit as soon as possible.”
