A teenager has denied stabbing a schoolboy who ended up slumped outside KFC in New Malden last summer.

The seventeen-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Kingston Crown Court, wearing a suit and tie on Tuesday, May 27.

He is charged with wounding with intent and has been remanded in custody.

His family sat in the public gallery for the hearing which lasted about five minutes.

The teenager, who will be 18 by the time his case is tried, will appear at Kingston Crown Court for his trial on the week beginning September 8.

The trial is expected to last up to three days.

Police were called to New Malden High Street on Wednesday, July 3 last year just before 9pm , after a 16-year-old boy was found slumped outside KFC with stab wounds.

It is believed he stumbled there after receiving injuries in nearby Blagdon Park.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition with non-life threatening injuries and later released.
