An electricity sub-station had a narrow escape when a vehicle flipped over and smashed into it in Chessington.

The vehicle overturned in Cox Lane in the early hours of Saturday morning, police said.

Two people were hospitalised after the crash, London Ambulance said.

A spokeswoman said a 21-year-old man was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting with back and chest pain, while another person was taken to Kingston Hospital, though not thought to have been seriously injured.

A fence around the Scottish and Southern Energy station was left twisted and damaged but the unit was left intact.
