A murder investigation has been launched after an 18-year-old was stabbed and killed near Crane Park on Tuesday.

Named locally as Jamil Palmer, from Hampton, the teen was a former student at Richmond College, Kingston College and Teddington School, according to his Facebook page.

The incident took place just before 3.30pm in Evans Grove in Feltham.

Police, London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London’s Air Ambulance attended and the man was taken to a central London hospital where he later died.

An LAS spokesman said: “We were called at just before 3.30pm to reports of a stabbing on Evans Grove.

“We sent a responder in a car, an ambulance crew, London air ambulance and a duty officer.

“He was in cardiac arrest and extensive efforts were made to resuscitate him before he was taken to hospital by air.”

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course and there have been no arrests at this stage.

A murder investigation was launched by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command in Putney under Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh.

DCI McHugh said: “I would like to urge anyone who was near Evans Grove, Feltham, between 3pm-3.30pm on Tuesday, May 6, to get in touch with police.

“They may well have seen something which could be of vital importance.

“I would also like to appeal directly to those that have knowledge of this murder to contact police.”

Friends used Twitter and Facebook to pay tribute to Mr Palmer.

Alex Cairns tweeted: “Can’t believe how someone’s life can be taken in that way, R.I.P Jamil palmer !".

Holly Parsons said: “Rip jamil Palmer can’t believe you’ve been taken ! You were such a nice guy and didn’t deserve it! rest in peace”.

Becky Irvin posted on Facebook: “Rip Jamil going to miss you so much”.
