A motorcyclist who crashed into a car in Richmond has been fined for driving dangerously.

Bartlomiej Ziolkowski, 36, must pay £2,000 in compensation after he tried to overtake a car in Kew Road in May last year, crashed into it and caused injury to the driver.

The motorcyclist, of High Street, New Malden, was also fined £300 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge when he appeared at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 11.

He did not have insurance at the time and has been banned from driving for three months.

Uninsured, not British, and this is the paltry penalty he got?

I don't think it makes any difference whether he is British or not unles he had no appropriate licence to drive, but the lack of insurance does make the already low penalty a particular disgrace.

There is no real disincentive to him to ride without insurance again.

There's nothing here that says the motorcyclist is not British.
