The mayor of Kingston’s driver appeared to flout parking rules by leaving the mayoral car in a disabled bay at a school.
Mayor Penny Shelton arrived at St Paul’s School in Chessington on Tuesday, March 25, for a certificate ceremony.
With no other spaces available, the driver opted to park in a disabled bay. A passer-by caught the Mercedes on camera.
A Kingston Council spokesman said: “I am informed that it was the only space left in the car park when the driver arrived.
“The mayor had been invited by the school to talk to pupils and to present 100 per cent attendance certificates. The car would have been moved right away if someone needed the space.”
