Missed out on the chance to cycle in this year’s RideLondon event? Charity Love Kingston is looking for 19 riders to ride 100 miles and help them raise money.

Cyclists will be pedalling through London and the Surrey countryside on Sunday, August 10, and will cross the borough of Kingston twice, writes Sarah Fopma.

Elaine Miller, fundraising manager for Love Kingston, said: “We’re asking riders to fundraise £750 each to help support some of the most vulnerable people who live in our community.”

Mark Sharma-Drake, 53, who works at Kingston University’s IT department, is one of Love Kingston's cyclists.

He said: “I feel proud to be a part of this event and to be raising money for good causes, but also a little worried because I’ve never cycled 100 miles in one go before."

Love Kingston supports youth workers Oxygen, Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness, Kingston Food Bank, women’s refuge Hestia and credit union Kingston Savers.

Last year more than 20,000 amateur and professional cyclists powered through Kingston on their way back from Box Hill in Surrey with crowds lining the roads.
