Fears of noise from a new open plan £55m Kingston University Town House were raised by some people during its public consultation the institution has said.
A total 275 people attended the exhibition in January on the ‘open door’ plans for its Penrhyn Road campus, which include grass on the roof.
Some also were worried about loss of car parking, the University said, but most approved of the designs.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Julius Weinberg said: “This confirms we are on the right tracks and that what we want to achieve will transform not just the way people learn but also how the university interacts with the wider community.
“The teams looking at the design of the new building and the landscaping are considering all the feedback now that the detailed design process is underway.”
Julia Bond, director of estates development said the noise and light from the town house would be part of the design.
She said: "It will be important to get these elements right for the building to work well."
The original town house was built as a temporary five-year measure in the 1980s.
If architects Grafton can win planning permission, construction on their six storey high building is likely to begin in late 2015 to be finished in 2017, the university said.
