Students evacuated after kitchen fire
About 50 Kingston University students were evacuated from their halls of residence last night after a kitchen fire.
New Malden firefighters were called to the Kingston Hill campus at about 10.20pm yesterday.
Watch manager Guy Pedliham said: “Our crews did well to keep it isolated to the kitchen where it started.
“It didn’t spread because of the excellent work of our breathing apparatus crew.
“The cause is still under investigation.”
