Children were treated to a musical extravaganza as seven local schools came together for a music partnership day.

Hampton Academy, Tolworth Girls’ School, Hollyfield School, Teddington School and Orleans Park School joined students from Hampton and the Lady Eleanor Holles School, to enjoy a day of creative music-making that culminated in a spectacular concert.

The pupils were split into groups in the morning with vocalists taking over Mills recital room at the Lady Eleanor Holles School and the strings and wind instruments based at Hampton School.

The evening’s concert included impressive solo vocal performances from Lady Eleanor Holles and Hampton Academy pupils, an accomplished string trio from Orleans Park School and intimate saxophone sonata performance from Tolworth Girls’ School.

The finale was a performance of Les Miserables by the orchestra and choir, with a medley of British pop music, past and present.

Director of music at Hampton School, Iain Donald, said it was a momentous occasion: “This is an intense day. The pupils did a wonderful job and our thanks go to all for making the day such a huge success.”
