Police officers saved a suspected drug dealer from the Thames after he tried to escape by swimming across the river at Kingston.
The man had been seen acting suspiciously in Portsmouth Road just before 4pm yesterday, February 27.
The suspect attempted to evade police by swimming across the river to the Richmond side, but got into difficulty and began struggling to stay afloat.
Two Kingston officers jumped in and pulled him to safety.
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution but was discharged later that day.
A 24-year-old man from Kingston has been arrested on suspicion of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply.
He was bailed until April.
