A family fun day in Kingston has raised more than £4,000 for the people of war-torn Syria.
The event, held on Saturday at St Paul’s Church in Queen’s Road, saw families enjoy a bouncy castle, face painting, food stalls and a raffle.
Kingston mayor Penny Shelton also dropped by to see the fun unfold, and met husband and wife team Khalid and Tabbassum Nazir, who organised the day.
The event raised £4,316 for Muslim Aid which is providing food, clothing and sanitary packages to Syrian families caught up in the ongoing civil war.
Mr Nazir said: “We are not an organisation, we are just ordinary people living in Kingston, a big family.

“We want to help deserving causes where it brings a good change to society.
“We will be able to help many of the families and individuals not only meet essential daily needs, but also make them realise there are people out there that care and share and that there is hope.”
