The military is on standby in case residents need extra help to be evacuated from their homes due to flooding, Kingston and Surbiton MP Edward Davey said today.
The Thames is rising, with levels in Kingston nearing their highest levels in 31 years of measurements although Mr Davey said rainfall for the next few days was not expected to be heavy.

Kingston Council workers have delivered information leaflets to areas likely to be affected, and have checked on vulnerable residents.
On Facebook Mr Davey said: “The Hawker Centre and Kingston University’s Kingston Hill sites have been identified as centres ready to take residents should the need arise.
“If such contingency plans need extra support then the military is on standby ready to assist.
“The whole situation is continuously being monitored for any changes or developments.”
