An album of original songs written and recorded by residents and workers at YMCA Surbiton will go on sale at this weekend’s Sleep Easy events in south London.
Participants at the fundraising sleep outs in Kingston and Wimbledon will be able to pick up the seven track CD on Saturday, with all money going towards supporting homeless people.
Each song deals with the subject of homelessness, and was recorded and mastered at the music studio in YMCA’s Surbiton branch in Victoria Road.
It is the idea of YMCA Surbiton support worker Jason Ray, who said: "The quality of the songs on the Sleep Easy EP is one of the best things to have come out of the YMCA recording facility.
“What we have ended up with is an EP diverse in musical genres and songs with real depth to them.
“I’ve been really impressed with the song writing ability and commitment shown by all those involved - it has been a great project.”
Some of the artists who performed on the album will be playing a live gig at the Kingston Sleep Easy in memorial gardens at 8pm on Saturday, January 25.
