Long-awaited work to renovate the notorious Malden Rushett crossroads has been delayed again.

Transport for London has said its plan to start work in March was “optimistic” and that construction may not begin until September.

Preliminary investigations and permission from utility companies are not yet finalised, it said.

Malden Rushett Residents' Association chairman Beryl Gibson said: "The residents will be deeply disappointed.

"Obviously they've got to get it right and we want it right.

"We will be contacting them and trying to find out what the reason for the delay is.

"There doesn't appear to have been much going on."
