A moustachioed headmistress with a dastardly plan to con the art market is the subject of the Cornerhouse’s new panto, writes Faris Al-Jawad.

The Belles of St Darcyan’s will open at the community arts venue in Tolworth later this month, featuring gymslips, lacrosse sticks and a ruse to flood the art market with fake masterpieces.

Written by Surrey Comet sports columnist Tim Harrison, this original piece tells the story of St Darcyan’s Academy, led by the cunning head Millicent Fritton.

Having changed its name following some damning Ofsted reports, the police are keeping a watchful eye on Ms Fritton and her con trick.

But they will have to overcome the eponymous Belles of St Darcyan’s if they are to bring her to justice.

"A well-aimed lacrosse stick is still a formidable weapon in the right hands," says Mr Harrison.

"And St Darcyan's audacious headmistress Millicent Fritton is leading the charge."
