The teenage woman found dead following a fire in Raynes Park has been named locally as Rachel Osei.

The 18-year-old, believed to be a young mother, was found burning on the road by the level crossing at the junction of Burlington Road and West Barnes Lane in the early hours of Sunday.

Miss Osie was said to have been studying P.E at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called out just after 1am on Sunday to reports of a person on fire.

Tragically she was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of three members of the public who attempted to save her life.

Police officers from the homicide and serious crime teams have been brought in but at this stage the death is being treated as non-suspicious.

It is believed the fire started at a property in nearby Linkway.
