Kingston Grammar School has announced the appointment of its new headteacher.

Stephen Lehec will come to the borough next year from Aylesbury Grammar School to take on the role in September 2014.

Current headteacher Sarah Fletcher will be stepping down to become the first female headteacher at the prestigious City of London School.

Mr Lehec who has taught history, politics and sport, graduated from Southampton University before studying for his PGCE in teaching at St Anne’s College in Oxford.

He said: “I consider myself very fortunate to be given the opportunity to lead one of the country’s top co-educational schools.

“I am very much looking forward to working closely with the Kingston Grammar School community and playing an active part in the life of the Royal Borough of Kingston.”

Paul Marsh, chairman of governors at the school, said: “We greatly look forward to welcoming Stephen and his family to Kingston.”
